You will assist with Linux and Windows system administration, DevOps platform support (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Jenkins, pSDO), user access management, vulnerability remediation support, and compliance documentation across unclassified and classified lab environments. This position provides hands-on exposure to secure lab operations, defense development environments, and the enterprise processes required to support mission-focused engineering teams.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support Active Directory group management, user additions (including special account types), and coordination of required IT tickets.
  • Provide support for Windows systems, including port access coordination, hardware transitions (e.g., Windows 11 integration efforts), and security tooling configurations (e.g., endpoint protection).
  • Assist with DevOps tool administration (Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, Jenkins, pSDO), including account creation, project/repository setup, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance activities.
  • Support migration efforts from legacy DevOps environments to updated platforms.
  • Assist with vulnerability management activities, including tracking findings, supporting patch efforts, and helping prepare documentation or Exception to Policy (ETP) submissions.
  • Help troubleshoot Linux, Windows, and network/firewall issues under senior staff guidance.
  • Support documentation updates including IT asset management (ITAM), network diagrams, and System Security Plan (SSP) artifacts.

•Assist in auditing compliance documentation and tracking configuration approvals in support of BPEs.

  • Support ticket submission, tracking, and follow-up across multiple IT organizations.
  • Perform general lab administration tasks such as account setup, issue resolution, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.
  • Must be a sophomore or junior in good academic standing at an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated foundational knowledge of Linux or Windows operating systems.
  • Basic familiarity with scripting or programming (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell, C++, or similar).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn in a highly regulated IT environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, follow established processes, and work both independently and within a technical team.
  • Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville, AL area for the duration of the internship.
  • Candidate must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Exposure to Linux system administration concepts (user management, permissions, sudo, package management).
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, LDAP, or enterprise account management concepts.
  • Experience with DevOps or collaboration tools such as Git, Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence, or Jenkins.
  • Exposure to vulnerability management, cybersecurity compliance, or secure system hardening concepts.
  • Familiarity with networking fundamentals (firewalls, ports, IP configuration).
  • Experience with scripting/automation tools (Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, etc.).
  • Interest in DevSecOps, system security compliance, or defense contractor IT environments.
