Job Description

Leidos’ Defense Mechanical Design & Analysis Department is seeking a Missile Launcher Design Engineer to join our team in Huntsville Alabama designing the next generation of air defense launchers to protect America and its allies. You will design unique hardware for the US Army’s Indirect Fire Protection Capability (IFPC Inc 2) missile launcher. You will use Creo CAD software and Windchill PLM software daily to turn ideas into designs. Then you’ll work alongside the production team to turn your designs into hardware. You might be asked to help integrate and install the hardware, and then you’ll work with the testing team to put your hardware into action. This is not your average engineering position. You will work on a team of the most talented engineers in the region who push you to be better every day. Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead a design team in the development of a novel magazine solution for the IFPC defensive missile launcher.

Basic Qualifications

  • BSME, BSEE or BSCS with 12+ years of defense/aerospace industry experience in technical and lead roles or 10+ years with MS degree.
  • Demonstrated experience leading integrated product teams that included mechanical hardware, electrical hardware and software.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing work packages, schedule and proposal Basis of Estimates.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting production lines.
  • Must be a US Citizen and possess (and be able to maintain) a Final Secret Clearance or meet the eligibility to obtain (and maintain) a Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Preferred experience directing sub-contractors including developing and administering Scopes of Work, acting as the Technical Point of Contact, addressing technical and schedule issues, and managing information flow.
  • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems is preferred.
